Sea Freight refers to the transportation of goods via sea, using large cargo vessels. This method is typically employed for international shipping and is ideal for transporting large quantities of goods or oversized items. Sea freight is also one of the primary choices for importers and exporters who do not require quick delivery times, as it offers lower shipping costs compared to other transportation methods.
Sea Freight Shipping Methods

Additional Information
The unit used for sea freight is CBM (Cubic Meter).
1 CBM is equivalent to a space of 100x100x100 cm and a maximum weight of 500 kg per CBM.
How to Calculate CBM
The formula is:
Width x Length x Height (cm) ÷ 1,000,000 = CBM.
For example, if the product is packed in boxes of size 50x60x75 cm, and there are 20 boxes, each weighing 20 kg:
- Size per box = 50x60x75 = 225,000 ÷ 1,000,000 = 0.225 CBM
- Total for 20 boxes = 20 x 0.225 = 4.5 CBM
- Total weight = 400 kg
The shipping company will charge for 4.5 CBM.
In case the weight is 150 kg per box:
- Total weight = 150 kg x 20 boxes = 3000 kg
- 1 CBM = 500 kg, but the total weight is 3000 kg.
- Divide 3000 by 500 = 6 CBM.
The shipping company will charge for 6 CBM.
